Horacio Corona Lira
Horacio comes to us with a wealth of experience in program coordination and working with youth. He was born in Las Tortugas, Michoacan Mexico and immigrated to the US at six years old, growing up in Fresno, California.
He is the first generation of his family to attend college and graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Psychology and minors in Education and Chicano Studies. He has served as a college adviser in multiple Bay Area high schools and middle schools.
Most recently he spent six years working with Upward Bound, coordinating their summer residential programs and Math and Science activities and serving as their field counselor for five Oakland high schools. Horacio will be attending Sacramento State in the fall for a Master’s program in Public Policy and Administration with a focus on bridging the achievement gap.
Horacio is fluent in Spanish and got married last October. He and his wife Angelina (Angie) Corona Zepeda will be visiting us during worship on June 4th. We hope that you will join us so that you can welcome Horacio and Angie and get to know them as we bless him in his work this summer!
