In addition to providing meals for people who need them, we also recognize that we have a responsibility to encourage our government to support policies that address food insecurity. On Sunday, April 28, after worship, members of the congregation participated in writing and sending an Offering of Letters. Working together with many other denominations across the country and with Bread for the World, we wrote 59 letters to our U.S. Representative and our U.S. Senators, urging them to act to help end hunger at home and around the world, by reauthorizing the Farm Bill. The Farm Bill includes domestic nutrition programs like SNAP, as well as funding for critical international food assistance programs.
