Sonny Graves is a 2016 graduate of Pacific School of Religion. He is currently working in the office of The Northern California Nevada Conference of the UCC and is interning at First Church Berkeley while he seeks his first call.
In this sermon he starts by examining the story of Jesus’ clash with the Temple Elders over his healing a woman on the Sabbath (Luke 13: 10-17.) He suggests that our simply hearing and acknowledging another person’s pain can, in itself, be a disruptive healing force . . . a Holy Sacrament that belongs at the heart of our worship.
